This New Heavy Strike Hammer Is OP AF—I’m in Love!
If you haven’t heard yet, the new Heavy Strike hammer in Path of Exile 2 is absolutely busted—in the best way possible. I picked it up after hearing chatter in global chat, and after just a few maps, I was fully convinced this was the best melee item I’ve used all league. The damage output is insane, the feel of smashing through packs is addicting, and the synergy with other PoE 2 items is just too good to ignore.
Let’s talk about why this hammer is so strong. First off, the base stats are through the roof. High base physical damage, excellent attack speed for a two-hander, and innate stun capabilities make it a go-to weapon for builds that want to hit hard and clear fast. Pair it with something like the new Overwhelm support or the Ruthless gem, and you’re instantly popping mobs like they’re made of paper.
But what really makes this hammer overpowered is how well it scales with mods. Choose the right skill links. I run Heavy Strike with Brutality, Melee Physical Damage, Close Combat, Ruthless, and Multistrike. If you can get a 6-link chest with those sockets, your single-target and AoE will skyrocket.
Focus on armor and stun. This hammer shines when enemies are stunned and locked down. Picking up PoE 2 items like a Helmet with +% chance to stun or a Chest with increased Armor helps keep you alive while you bulldoze through everything.
Use Warcries! The Seismic Cry and Intimidating Cry combo boosts your damage and lets you chain kills easily. They also synergize with the hammer’s high damage to trigger big, satisfying crits.
Keep upgrading. I buy PoE 2 items like crafting fossils, bench currency, and alternate quality gems regularly from u4gm to keep my build sharp. Prices are reasonable, and delivery is fast—you’ll thank yourself when your DPS doubles after one small tweak.
The only downside? Everyone wants this hammer now. Prices have spiked, especially for well-rolled versions. If you want one, consider checking the trade board often or just buy PoE 2 items directly. I found mine for a steal on u4gm and haven’t looked back since.
