Synchronization and Cloud Persistence in a Travel Companion App

A Travel Companion App functions as a mobile middleware layer that aggregates heterogeneous data from Global Distribution Systems (GDS), airline APIs, and local transit feeds. The technical architecture relies on RESTful APIs and JSON parsing to consolidate flight statuses, hotel confirmations, and digital boarding passes into a unified timeline.

To ensure functionality in low-connectivity environments (such as mid-flight or underground metros), the app employs SQLite or Realm for local on-device data persistence. "Offline-first" synchronization logic manages "Conflict Resolution" when the device re-establishes a network connection, ensuring the most recent itinerary update from the server overrides outdated local data. Furthermore, geofencing triggers—based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) coordinates—automate the delivery of context-specific information, such as baggage carousel numbers upon arrival at a specific airport's terminal coordinates.
